Weekly Devotion Matthew 11:28-30

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Jesus tells all those who labor and are burdened to come to Him for rest. He invites them to take His easy yoke upon them to find rest for their souls.

Lord, thank You that I am no longer under the yoke of sin and of the law. Thank You for letting me take the yoke of Christ upon me and find rest. Thank You for grace!

Taking the Initiative: Ten Cities

As many readers know, I am a member of a team of missionaries known as Project China. Some readers have read my series of posts about Project China published in March of this year, which included an  article entitled “Project China: A Growing Task“. In that post, I outlined the three initiatives (game plans) that we as a team had in place to divide China into bite-sized portions and reach the nation with the gospel. I say ‘had’ instead of ‘have’ because we now have more than three initiatives! So for the month of September, I’d like to elaborate on our current initiatives one post at a time.

Original Goal: Project China’s “Northeast Initiative” is a strategy to reach the Northeastern part of China with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. This part of the country is made up of the following 3 provinces: Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Jilin. The 4 key cities that we are targeting are: Harbin, Changchun, Shenyang, and Dalian. The total population for these cities are around 33 million and the area is around 109 million souls. We are praying for a church-planting missionary family in each of these key cities with our team.

Expanded Goal: As we continue to pray for these 4 cities, we are expanding our initiative into 6 other key cities which are all around the Yellow Sea and its innermost bay called the Bohai Sea. Thus, the following key cities are added: Tangshan, Tianjin, Yantai, Weifang, Jinan, and Qingdao. This also adds 3 new provinces: Hebei, Tianjin, and Shandong. The total population for these cities are around 55 million and the area is around 186 million souls. We are praying for a church-planting missionary family in each of these key cities with our team.

New Goal: This new goal is called “The 10 City Initiative”.

  • The 10 key cities that we are targeting are: Harbin, Changchun, Shenyang, Tangshan, Tianjin, Dalian, Yantai, Weifang, Jinan, and Qingdao.
  • The 6 provinces are: Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Hebei, Tianjin, and Shandong.
  • The total population for these cities are around 88 million and the area is around 295 million souls.

Our initial goal is to see a church-planting missionary in each of these key cities. Our hope is that each of these missionaries will start a church-planting movement that trains national leaders to not only reach the city they are in but also their province and beyond.

We need men to surrender their lives to take the gospel to these places. There are incredible opportunities in these places—we just need a willing man with a heart fully surrendered over to God.

Will you pray will us for the millions of souls who need the gospel?

Will you consider going and being one of the missionaries with Project China?

Progress Towards Our Goal

We now have active ministries in the following cities:

  • Harbin
  • Dalian
  • Changchun
  • Tianjin

Thus, we are reaching 4 out of the 10 cities in our initiative.

Continue to pray with us!

September 2018 Prayer Letter

Dear Pastors and Praying Friends,

The Lord was faithful to bless our deputation in the month of August. We traveled to 12 churches in GA, NC, TN, and SC. We heard from four churches that committed to partner with our ministry over the course of the month, and three churches began sending in support. We thank the Lord for His protection and provision as we travel!

The last couple of days in July through the first weekend in August, I was a part of a group of missionaries with Vision Baptist Missions that hosted a group of young people at the Our Generation Student Leadership Camp (OGSLC). The purpose of the camp was to encourage young people to consider both the need of the world for the gospel and the role they should have in world evangelism. Part of the week was filled with trips to various religious sites (temples, mosques, etc.) to show them the need and let their eyes affect their hearts. The rest of the week was devoted to preaching about missions and testimonies of God’s work in our lives as missionaries. Please pray that the Lord would raise up new missionaries from the group of young people to take the gospel around the world.

We are looking forward to September, which brings meetings in 13 different churches in NC, GA, VA, and TN. Please pray that the Lord would allow us to be a blessing to churches as we travel and share our burden for the Chinese people. Please also pray that the Lord would continue to raise up more gospel laborers to take the good news of Christ to the billions of China.
