Taking the Initiative: Taiwan

As many readers know, I am a member of a team of missionaries known as Project China. Some readers have read my series of posts about Project China published in March of this year, which included an  article entitled “Project China: A Growing Task“. In that post, I outlined the three initiatives (game plans) that we as a team had in place to divide China into bite-sized portions and reach the nation with the gospel. I say ‘had’ instead of ‘have’ because we now have more than three initiatives! So for the month of September, I’d like to elaborate on our current initiatives one post at a time.

Project China’s “Taiwan Initiative” is a strategy to reach Taiwan with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. This part of the country is made up of:

5 Key Cities over 1 million people: New Taipei, Kaohsiung, Taichung, Taipei, and Tainan.

Population over 23 million souls.

Protestantism is 2.6% of the population.

Our initial goal to see a church-planting missionary in the key cities. Our hope is that each of these missionaries will start a church-planting movement that trains national leaders to not only reach the city they are in but also the areas around their city and all of China.

We are praying for God to raise up church-planters to go to these five key cities.

Will you pray will us for the 23 million souls living in China’s Taiwan?

Will you consider going and being one of the church-planters?

Weekly Devotion: Matthew 12:42

“The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.”

The queen of Sheba came from a far off land to hear the wisdom of Solomon. She thirsted for and sought out his wisdom. Now, a greater than Solomon, Jesus Christ, is here. How much more should we thirst for His wisdom! We have Christ in us. We have His Word! We should long for and desire His Word and His wisdom over all else.

Lord, thank You for Jesus Christ! Thank You for the Bible. Help me to read it more diligently. Grow my desire to hear Your Words of Life. Thank You that I can have a copy of my own and study it often. Thank You that I can gain wisdom from it.

Taking the Initiative: Shanghai

As many readers know, I am a member of a team of missionaries known as Project China. Some readers have read my series of posts about Project China published in March of this year, which included an  article entitled “Project China: A Growing Task“. In that post, I outlined the three initiatives (game plans) that we as a team had in place to divide China into bite-sized portions and reach the nation with the gospel. I say ‘had’ instead of ‘have’ because we now have more than three initiatives! So for the month of September, I’d like to elaborate on our current initiatives one post at a time.

Our initial goal to see a church-planting missionary first in each of the districts inside the city limits then a missionary in each of the suburban districts. Our hope is that each of these missionaries will start a church-planting movement that trains national leaders to not only reach the city they are in but also the areas around their city and all of China.

Outside the city limits, the metropolitan area of Shanghai includes Jiading, Baoshan, Minhang, Pudong, Chongming Qingpu, Songjiang, Jinshan and Fengxian.

Population over 24 million souls in the city limits, 34 million in the metropolitan area.

We are praying for God to raise up church-planters to first go to the city districts then the suburban districts.

Will you pray will us for the 34 million souls living in Shanghai?

Will you consider going and being one of the church-planters?
