Weekly Devotion Matthew 1:21

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”

An angel appears to Joseph in a dream and lets him know it’s alright to take pregnant Mary as his wife because that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost (1:20). Then the angel instructs Joseph to call the son’s name Jesus because He will be a Savior for His people from their sins.

Lord, thank You that You had a plan to save. Thank You that in the New Testament You brought about that plan through Jesus. Thank You that He is mighty to save and has saved me from my sins. He is a great Savior, and You are a great God!

Weekly Devotion Malachi 3:16

“Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: And the LORD hearkened, and heard it, And a book of remembrance was written before him For them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.”

Those that feared the Lord spoke often to each other about the Lord and their fear of Him. The Lord overheard their conversation, and wrote a book of remembrance about them and all of the good things they said about Him. The Lord delights in hearing His people talk about Him!

Lord, may I often praise Your name in the company of others. Help me to give glory and honor to You when I speak of You. I pray that my conversations about You would be so pleasing to You that You would write them down to remember. I love You, Lord!
