Weekly Devotion Daniel 6:10
Posted On May 10, 2018
“Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.”
Darius, king of the Medes and Persians, signed a decree which stated that those that make petition of any God or man except the king for thirty days shall be cast into the den of lions. When Daniel learned that it was signed, he openly prayed with his windows open toward Jerusalem three times a day with thanksgiving. He wasn’t doing it out of defiance, however. He was doing it out of faithfulness to the Lord and a desire the worship the Lord as he had always done (“…as he did aforetime”).
Lord, give me this kind of resolute faith in devotion to You. Help me to, regardless of outside circumstances, faithfully live for and worship You. Give me this boldness to, like Daniel, trust that You will look after Your children. I love You, Lord.
