“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
We have a great cloud of witnesses to look to for an example of faith (ch 11). So we need to lay aside every weight and sin and run with patience the race of faith set before us. Doing so, we need to look to Jesus, our greatest example. He for the joy set before Him, endured the cross, despised the shame, and sits in victory at the right hand of God.
Lord, increase my faith. Help me to patiently press forward in my walk with You. Help me to lay aside sin and other hindrances and focus solely after You. Thank You for what Jesus endured to make salvation possible. Help me to be willing to endure much of the same for His glory.
