“Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Neither let the mighty man glory in his might, Let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, That he understandeth and knoweth me, That I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgement, and righteousness, in the earth: For in these things I delight, saith the LORD.”
The Lord tells us not to boast in who we are, whether wise, mighty, or rich. Our glory is to be in our knowledge of who the Lord is, because He is able to make wise, mighty, and rich; and without Him, we couldn’t be any of those. We are to glory in knowing the Lord’s lovingkindness, judgement, and righteousness.
Lord, You have given me Your Word so that I can learn who You are and who I am in light of You. In Your Word You show me that anything boast-worthy in me is from You. I have nothing to glory in. Please grow me in my knowledge of You. I want to daily better understand who You are so that I can better proclaim who You are to others. Teach me, Lord. I love You.
“For I know their works and their thoughts: It shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; And they shall come, and see my glory. And I will set a sign among them, And I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, To Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, To Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, That have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; And they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.”
The Lord’s intent has always been for the nations to see His glory. He will send out people among the nations that have not heard of His fame. These messengers will declare His glory among the Gentiles.
Lord, thank You that you sent the apostles into the world with the message of the gospel. Thank You that through their testimony we have the New Testament. Thank You that we Gentiles can be saved, can see Your glory, and can hear Your fame. Please use me in a similar way as You used the apostles. Let me be Your messenger to tell the world about Your love commended in Jesus Christ.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and support as we continue our deputation to take the good news of Christ to the Chinese people!
The Chinese text in the above image is taken from Isaiah 9:6:
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
This Christmas season, please remember to pray for churches and missionaries in China as they proclaim the news of this Son who was given so that they might be saved. Pray that the Lord would work through believers in China to reach more Chinese people with this good news.
May you all have a Merry Christmas!
