“Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: But thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: For thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back. For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: They that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: The father to the children shall make known thy truth. The LORD was ready to save me: Therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments All the days of our life in the house of the LORD.”
Hezekiah was sick unto death and told by the Lord through Isaiah that he would die of this sickness (38:1), but he prayed unto the Lord (38:2, 3). The Lord heard his prayer, added fifteen years to his life (38:4, 5), and and promised to deliver him and the whole city out of the hand of the Assyrians (38:6). Then Hezekiah praises the Lord for delivering him from sickness and the Assyrians.
Lord, You have delivered me from death and hell. Through the cross of Christ, You have cast all my sins behind Your back. I have been made alive to praise You! Thank You, Father! I will make known Your truth to my children because You were ready to save me and are ready to save them if they but believe.
