“And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ…Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.”
When the nation of Israel became thirsty in the wilderness, Moses smote the Rock to water the people (Exodus 17:6). This passage in 1 Corinthians tells us that that Rock was Christ, “the same spiritual drink”. This thing happened to them as an example, a type, pointing them to Christ; and it is written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
Lord, thank You that my spiritual thirst is quenched in Christ alone. Thank You that, as Jesus told the woman at the well, I never have to thirst again because I have tasted the living water (John 4). Lord, please give me many opportunities, like Christ had in John 4, to share the living water with others.
