“After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.”
Paul had just spent two years in Ephesus, and during that time “all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus” (Acts 19:10). He had just witnessed the Word of God prevail over them that used curious arts, causing them to repent and believe (Acts 19:18-20).
All of this success, however, didn’t satisfy Paul with the advancement of the gospel. In verse 21, he purposes to go back to Jerusalem and after that go and see Rome. He wanted to further advance the gospel! He wanted to take the same Word that changed so many lives in Ephesus to the city of Rome to transform the lives of the people there as well!
I desire to be like Paul, constantly thinking of what I can do and where I can go to get the gospel out!
